Cinderella, or the Little Glass Slipper

Narrador: Dan Stieber

Duración 14 min

"Cinderilla, or The Little Glass Slipper"  is a famous fairytale by French author Charles Perrault. Derived from oral folktale retellings across many cultures and centuries, Perrault published his version and other tales in his collection of works, Tales of Mother Goose (1697).  His collection of tales set the standard for future fairytales.  This fairytale tells the story of a young girl named Cinderilla, often referred to today as "Cinderella." Her stepmother and stepsisters mistreat her, but she eventually finds happily ever after with the help of her fairy godmother.  Charles Perrault (1628–1703) was a French writer and a member of the French Academy. He laid the foundations for a new literary genre, the fairy tale, with his works derived from earlier folk tales, published in his Histoires ou contes du temps passé.  Some versions of Perrault's older stories influenced the German versions published by the Brothers Grimm over 100 years later.
